the Gamer’s Edition:

The Gamer’s Edition is “comes in an Officer’s Signal Satchel, a magnificent leatherette bag in which the Rulebook itself is already stored. Games Workshop launches new Digital Books for the iPad

GW Logo

If you don’t’ subscribe to Games Workshop newsletter or haven’t checked it out yet, they just announced that they are launching a crap ton of digital products, exclusively available through the iBookstore with the iBooks app. Some examples of the digital goodies you can download are Codexes, Army books and the How to Paint books. The newsletter goes on to say that “Each one is packed with animated images, searchable text and plenty of other exciting features all available with the swipe of a finger.”

All I can say is that I hope they decide to bring it to the Andriod and Windows mobile as well. Its a pretty sweet idea, if you think about it. Instead of lugging all your codexes, rule book, etc. you can just grab your iPad. The best part about it, to me, is that it will have a search function on it. A lot faster than flipping through the pages. Being new to Warhammer 40k, I do that….A LOT. Head over to games-workshop.com and check out their article on the matter. Also they have posted videos and hiliarious screen shots from the digital products,  like this one:

Not all their screen shots are as stupid as the above. This is the one that made me more interested in their digital books:

I’m a techy so this interests me greatly, but I just hope they decide to release it for other OS’s. So go to their site and check it out!

And So It Begins…

Welcome to Two Noobs Painting!

Tonight, Derek and I got together to do some mini painting and discuss the blog. We didn’t accomplish very much painting, but we did go over quite a few topics in between watching episodes of Reno 911 on Netflix and the customary Sheetz run. First off, we talked about doing work in progress posts showcasing the miniatures we’ve been working on as well as learning the rules to the  game itself. We discussed also doing unboxings of all the kits we purchase, and showing you guys all the spare parts you get for further customization of your army, as well as building up a giant bits box. We will also eventually be doing product reviews for any cool wargaming swag we buy, and letting you know how or why they could benefit you and your games. There are plans to get  involved in more than just pictures. We would like to eventually move into also posting videos and tutorials on whatever we can think of. Perhaps a podcast, or video recording of a painting session while we BS and talk about all sorts of fun stuff.

Get excited for all to come, starting soon! I believe Derek will be making his first post tomorrow, and I will be posting my first Work in Progress by the end of the weekend. Follow us or check out our twitter feed to keep updated. Thanks for taking a look!
